Yoursay | Defectors will face rakyat’s wrath come GE15
YOURSAY | ‘We, Perakians, did not vote for Umno and PAS to form the state gov’t.’
Kural: A change of government resulting in defections of individual assembly members from an officially recognised political party is very different from an elected representative denying his/her vote to one’s own party-led government over differences in specific governance or policy resolutions.
Defections leading to a change in government are tantamount to an individual’s betrayal of trust of the votes he/she gained in an election, not as an independent candidate but a candidate of the particular party that gained power with a specific collective mission.
One can well imagine that such political mechanisation by the assemblypersons, while it is within their existential prerogative, may engender some disquiet, especially in Perak, in our very learned and caring His Highness the Sultan.
Don’t Just Talk: The year 2020 will be remembered in history as a leap year and also a year when all the Pakatan Harapan political frogs are jumping everywhere.
One minute, you find the Bersatu frogs in Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s house and when the news is received that the ‘pintu belakang’ (backdoor) leader has been appointed as the eighth prime minister, these frogs hold the record for long-distance jumping from Mahathir's house to the new prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s house.
They have no principles except for saying ‘what’s in it for me?’ To these frogs, I spit on them.
Anonymous_1569897415594.46461569896450651: “Paul (Yong Tronoh assemblyperson) said if they do not support the new government, then a lot of projects in their constituencies would be cancelled.”
Rubbish. When you fight for a state seat, even if you win, there may not be any projects.
Whatever projects implemented by the federal government is a bonus. So what's the big deal if projects are suspended? Can you guarantee projects will continue if you switch sides?
P Dev Anand Pillai: It looks like the people are always made fools of by these frogs.
So what if projects are halted? You wait till it starts again. Go to India to see how many times a government changes in the state and central levels and what happens to the projects. Some are continued because of negotiations and some are abandoned because there is simply too much corruption.
So don't worry about the projects, it is the peoples' vote. It is the trust which you have broken.
Now even if there were capable young leaders from your respective parties who can lead in the future, your selfish acts have ruined it for them.
Libra: That’s the culture of politics in this country. Embrace it for even now the leadership is cultivating it. What to do?
Perhaps they were offered a deal which was too good to be refused. It looks like for everyone up there, there is money to be made. That’s all there is to it.
RD: Exco post is waiting for both the DAP assemblypersons because there are no Chinese and Indian representatives in Perak Perikatan Nasional.
I was told it was Paul Yong who pulled A Sivasubramaniam to join Perikatan Nasional and promised him an exco post.
DongNanXiBei: Regardless of who initiated or pulled, you are adult and the people's leader cum representative, there is no need for others to tell you what is right or wrong.
If one can differentiate what's the right thing to do, he is not fit to be state assemblyperson. No excuse.
Vgeorgemy: We still can't understand the reasoning for the state assemblyperson of the non-majority community joining a coalition visibly racist and oppressive towards the diverse societies of minority and disenfranchised communities.
Idiocracy: So why is Yong, who is fighting rape charges, forsake his comrades in DAP in the likes of Nga Kor Ming and Ngeh Koo Ham and join Perikatan Nasional?
Ramkarpal Singh of DAP was his lawyer. Maybe Yong succumbed to pressure from the other side.
Hot Khong: "People placed high hopes on the political parties. They should not suffer because of political games," said Yong.
What the heck does that mean? Yong flips and he talks about political games?
Vijay47: For Yong, the deal is obvious. Well done, sir. A true politician.
Anonymous_1557299531: This is what you call frog jumping for their own convenience and interests.
The people of their constituencies don’t want to see their respective assemblyperson defecting for their own pleasure. Wait for the rakyat to respond in the next general election.
SAM98: Oh, good, given enough time, all of the Harapan component parties will identify the turncoats and traitors.
Then start again with a stronger and unified party. When the next GE is called, we shall fight again and hopefully, Mahathir is on the ground.
Drngsc: It looks like the federal government made a deal with Yong. Perhaps soon his charges will be dropped. So convenient.
Even DAP has lost its discipline. These DAP turncoats are prepared to work with corrupt politicians. Maybe they themselves are corrupt, too? So sad.
Anonymous_1583774208892.80521583773686795: Harapan had the chance to enact new law forbidding jumping, but the usual suspects from the very first day were against it because they already planned to do it right before they are obliged to hand over to PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.
But the grand objective failed spectacularly when the mastermind didn't manage to park his own people in the next (and now new) government. - Mkini
