Azian Osman appointed new Energy Commission chairperson

Former Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) chairperson Azian Osman was appointed as the new chairperson of the Energy Commission effective yesterday, replacing Ahmad Fauzi Hassan who retired on March 31, 2020.
The commission in a statement said the appointment was carried out with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s approval.
“The Commission welcomes Azian’s leadership to elevate the Commission’s agenda to the next level. Also a big thank you to former chairperson Ahmad Fauzi for his service from April 1, 2018 until March 31, 2020.
“Throughout the duration of his service, he has contributed a lot with his invaluable experience and ideas in achieving aspirations, vision and mission of the Energy Commission,” read the statement.
Azian received his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) LLB from Universiti Malaya in 1985 and began his career as an advocate and solicitor in 1986.
He has vast experience in the legal profession as well as managing a company. 
He was also a member of the Bar Council's disciplinary board from 2002-2004 and spent four years as Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) member of the authority.
Apart from SPNB, Azian has also served Giatmara Malaysia and as a member of Tekun Nasional's board of trustees for four years from 2015.
