Sandra Oh, Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding to Star in ‘The Tiger’s Apprentice’ Adaptation
“Killing Eve” star Sandra Oh has been tapped to lend her voice alongside Michelle Yeoh in the adaptation of the best-selling children’s book “The Tiger’s Apprentice.”
The project, which is under Paramount Animation, will become the directorial debut of Carlos Baena, a Pixar animator who previously worked on “Wall-E” and “Toy Story 3,” according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).
In addition to Oh, the new animated movie will also star Yeoh and her fellow “Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding. Brandon Soo Hoo (“From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”), Sherry Cola (“Good Trouble,” “Claws”), Kheng Hua Tan (“Magnum P.I.”) and “Saturday Night Live’s” Bowen Yang.
Created by Lawrence Yep and published by HarperCollins in 2003, “The Tiger’s Apprentice” follows the story of a boy who meets a shape-shifting talking tiger named Mr. Hu.
“Under his tutelage and protection is introduced into a magical world that includes an ancient phoenix, a dragon and a clan of evil-doers,” the synopsis reads via THR.
Oh, who won a Golden Globe in 2019 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, will lend her voice to Mistral, an exiled dragon living in San Francisco who is also a friend of the tiger played by Golding. She is a primetime Emmy nominee for 2020, according to IMDb.
It is unclear what character Yeoh will play in the adaptation.
“The Tiger’s Apprentice” is set for release on Feb. 23, 2023.
