Puad urges BN MPs to 'kamikaze' and overthrow PM over i-Sinar, moratorium

Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi has urged BN lawmakers to take the plunge and withdraw their support from Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said this is because the party's demands have not been met, which are making the Employee Provident Fund's (EPF) i-Sinar programme more accessible and an automatic loan moratorium.

"Just withdraw support from Muhyiddin as prime minister. This might seem like kamikaze. But it's not wrong, it's for the people.

"Maybe not all BN backbenchers are willing. But even if five withdraw support, then, thank God. Even three is ok," he said in a Facebook post this morning.

The post was titled "Withdraw support from Muhyiddin as PM".

Muhyiddin's Perikatan Nasional (PN) government currently has the support of 111 MPs, which is a slim one-vote majority. There are currently only 220 lawmakers in the Dewan Rakyat.

Puad had cited BN backbenchers club chairperson Najib Abdul Razak's warning that they would take action if their demands were not met.

Umno and BN have been demanding that the government make it easier for more people to make withdrawals from their EPF savings through the i-Sinar programme.

This is because they are not satisfied with the terms that applicants must have at least 30 percent reduced income to qualify. The EPF has said they would consider those with lower percentages of reduced income.

Najib, in a Facebook post on Dec 21, said there was still time for BN to take action. - Mkini
