Report lodged against ex-Umno leader over claims Hamzah attempted to ‘buy’ MP
PETALING JAYA: An aide to home minister Hamzah Zainudin has lodged a police report against former Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam over a video posted on his Facebook account regarding the PPBM leader.
In his police report, Sayed Amir Muzzakkir Sayed Mohamad said the video, titled “Hamzah Zainudin Shopping Sakan, Bukan Takat Mp Nak Debeli, Partipun Hendak Dibeli. Apakah Keputusan Mic Dan Mca?” (Looks like Hamzah Zainudin has gone shopping, not content on buying MPs he wants to buy the entire party. What’s MIC and MCA’s decision?) defamed the Larut MP.
He alleged that the video in question also suggests Hamzah is the “Datuk Seri” who had tried to convince PKR’s Natrah Ismail to switch sides and support Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
“This statement is malicious, defamatory, and creates resentment among the people towards the government,” he said, adding that it also “slanders the prime minister and home minister with accusations of buying MPs.”
Pointing out that the video had gone viral on social media, Sayed Amir Muzzakkir expressed hope that the authorities would conduct a “thorough and detailed investigation” and take “stern action” against Lokman.
The video mentioned in the report was a livestream that lasted a little over 50 minutes and was posted on March 6.
Natrah, who is Sekijang MP, had previously lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) alleging that two people, including a “Datuk Seri”, had tried to get her to support Perikatan Nasional in exchange for benefits.
A Facebook account known as “Ops Johor” later said there was a RM10 million offer involved, but Natrah denied having mentioned any amount in her report. - FMT
