Cleaner at IRB building triggers new Covid-19 cluster in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: A cleaner working at the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) building here has been identified as the index case behind the new Jalan Tunku Covid-19 cluster, which has so far affected four districts.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said woman, 66, had displayed symptoms and subsequently underwent testing.
"She tested positive after being screened at the Luyang health clinic on April 23.
"Following that, contact tracing measures were activated to perform testing," he said.
The cluster has 10 cases so far with three from Kota Kinabalu, four from Papar, two from Putatan and one in Penampang.
Sabah today recorded 69 new cases. The state has nine red zones, two orange zones, nine yellow zones and seven green zones.
Masidi also touched on the standard operating procedures for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration in the state, saying that the 'takbir Raya' from house-to-house and open houses are not allowed.
Takbir and prayers at mosques, however, are allowed.
"Raya visits are allowed for under 20 family members from the same zone, subject to the house's capacity.
"As for cemetery visits, while allowed, should not include more than six people and no more than 30 minutes per visit," he said. - NST
