Ken Jeong Lands Lead Role in ‘Shoot The Moon’ Produced by Daniel Dae Kim
Actor Ken Jeong who is known for his role in “The Hangover” will be starring as the lead character in Amazon’s new dramedy “Shoot the Moon” produced by Daniel Dae Kim.
The single-camera dramedy is about failures in life, taking loose inspiration from the life of Paul Bae, a former English teacher, stand-up comedian and creator of “The Black Tapes” podcast.
Bae is also a former youth pastor who set out on a journey to find himself again after getting divorced from his wife and turning to atheism.
The series will focus on Michael (played by Jeong), a first-generation Korean American struggling to rebuild his life after his marriage and career do not work out.
The story will be produced by Daniel Dae Kim’s production studio 3AD in association with Amazon Studios. This will be Kim’s first series as part of a first-look deal with the streaming service, TV Insider reported.
Bae stated that his life would have been “personally tragic if it weren’t so funny,” according to Deadline.
“Paul’s irreverent and unapologetic writing, along with Ken’s impeccable comedic skills makes this a project all of us at 3AD are very excited about,” Kim said.
Kim, known for producing “The Good Doctor” says he is “thrilled” about bringing “this unique, Model Minority Myth-busting world to life.”
“Paul’s brilliance and Daniel’s producing prowess along with 3AD and Amazon rounds out one of the most dynamic groups of talent I have had the good fortune to collaborate with,” Jeong said. “It’s truly a dream come true to be able to create an Asian American project told by Asian American storytellers, and hopefully this will inspire more people to share their experiences through the lens as well.”
