Police use drones at bazaars to monitor SOP compliance
Drones are being used as the "eyes" of the authorities as the Royal Malaysia Police monitor Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance in Ramadan bazaars around the capital.
A Bernama check at the Desa Pandan Ramadan bazaar in Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening found that drone operations were used to monitor movements, as well as to give warnings and reminders to visitors through loudspeakers attached to the drones.
Video and images recorded will be viewed at the drone unit’s operations centre which has been set up to monitor the movement of visitors at the bazaar.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah when contacted, said the monitoring using drones as well as the presence of policemen at the Ramadan bazaar would continue until Aidilfitri.
“There are not many visitors compared with during holidays and weekends, however the police are still tightening control at all bazaar entrances to ensure physical distancing is complied with,” he said.
On May 1, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, said police will be using drones to monitor SOP compliance at Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars around the Klang Valley.
