Loke urges KJ to expand Operation Surge Capacity to Negeri Sembilan

Seremban MP Anthony Loke has called on de facto vaccination minister Khairy Jamaluddin to expand Operation Surge Capacity (OSC) to include Negeri Sembilan.

This was after the state reported four-digit Covid-19 cases for five days in a row as of yesterday.

"I urge Khairy to expand OSC to include Negeri Sembilan seeing how the state is among the top three states with the highest positive cases, along with Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

"I am confident that (Khairy) as Rembau MP, which is in Negeri Sembilan, understands the situation in the state and the worries of the people he represents," Loke (above) said in a statement last night.

Announced on Friday, the OSC aims to get all vaccine registrants in the Klang Valley their first dose at least by Aug 1.

The operation comes as Covid-19 cases continue to surge unabated in the Klang Valley.

Meanwhile, in the last five days, Negeri Sembilan recorded a total of 7,072 cases.

Loke said besides including Negeri Sembilan in the OSC, walk-in vaccination for seniors above 60 years old should also be expanded to the state.

As the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan account for almost 60 percent of nationwide cases, he said speeding up vaccinations would help bring down national Covid-19 figures. - Mkini
