Air Selangor breaks record for National Day's 'largest virtual song performance'

Air Selangor has officially broken the record for ‘largest participation in a virtual song performance’ in conjunction with the upcoming National Day celebration on Aug 31.

Over 3,000 employees from Air Selangor took part in the performance of Tanggal 31 Ogos via an online platform on Aug 20.

“The record was verified by the Malaysia Book of Records on Aug 20 at the group singing session of the original number Tanggal 31 Ogos by the late Sudirman Arshad involving 3,126 employees of the headquarters and all regional offices employees in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

“Air Selangor has successfully commemorated the celebration via an online platform despite the limitations during the National Recovery Plan (NRP) Phase 1.

“The celebration was held to elevate the spirit of patriotism amongst Air Selangor employees while at the same time support the spirit of #kitajagakita throughout this challenging pandemic period,” read a statement released by Air Selangor today.

In conjunction with this year’s 64th National Day, Air Selangor has also launched a video on their social media and website featuring 64 Malaysians reciting a poem by national laureate Usman Awang entitled Tanah Air (Menjelang Kemerdekaan).

There will also be special appearances in the video from Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, literary figure Lim Swee Tin, director and actor Sabri Yunus, national athletes Shalin Zulkifli, Minarwan Nawawi and Khalid Jamlus.

Air Selangor said it has also distributed 150 boxes of food supplies through the Box of Hope initiative to communities in need at Semenyih, Kajang and Sungai Ramal on Aug 24. - Mkini
