Police trying to confirm two IS-K fighters caught by Taliban are Malaysians

Police are trying to confirm that two of six Islamic State Khorasan Province (IS-K) attackers being held by the Taliban are Malaysians.

This came after UK's The Times quoted Taliban CID chief Maulawi Saifullah Mohammed on the capture of six fighters, two of whom were supposedly Malaysians.

"Four are Afghans but it seems the other two are Malaysians," he had said.

The six were captured in a fight between the Taliban and IS-K in Kabul on Thursday night.

The IS-K had earlier that day launched a deadly attack on the Kabul international airport that reportedly killed up to 200 people.

Back in Malaysia, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani (above) said cops as of yet have no information of Malaysians being part of IS activities in Afghanistan.

"Police have made requests to foreign security agencies to confirm the allegations.

"Investigations are also underway on the possibility that the report involves Malaysian IS fighters who are already abroad," he added in a statement last night. - Mkini
