Covid-19 deaths (Oct 7): 105 reported fatalities, total at 26,981

 

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry's Github data repository reported a total of 105 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Oct 6), bringing the cumulative death toll to 26,981.

This is a slight reduction from yesterday's total of 117 fatalities. The previous day's total of 76 was the lowest number of reported deaths in three months.

From the newly-reported deaths yesterday, 25 percent or 26 died before they could receive treatment at a hospital.

As of yesterday, there were 132,175 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 23 percent from the 169,718 active Covid-19 cases a week ago.

Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has fallen by 47.6 percent from 252,002 cases.

The Health Ministry reported 9,380 new cases yesterday.

To date, 932 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 11 new clusters reported yesterday. The ongoing clusters have fallen by 15.4 percent from the 1,088 active clusters a week ago.

The 11 new clusters yesterday comprised five workplace clusters (45.5 percent), five community clusters (45.5 percent) and one high-risk group clusters (9.1 percent).

Previously, the Health Ministry released deaths statistics together with the number of new Covid-19 cases in the evening. This had since changed.

Deaths statistics are now released after midnight along with other more detailed data. Malaysiakini reports them in the morning.
