PM to hold presser possibly related to interstate travel
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to hold a special press conference at 3pm today.
It will be broadcast live on Facebook, Astro channel 502, myFreeview channel 121 and on Unifi TV.
The premier is likely to make an announcement on matters related to interstate travel.
Initially, the government said it would only allow the crossing of state borders when the country's vaccination rate reached 80 percent.
However, the government then decided that the allowance would only be given after 90 percent of the adult population was fully vaccinated.
Ismail Sabri explained that the government's move to increase the adult vaccination rate target from 80 to 90 percent before allowing unrestricted interstate travel was aimed at ensuring that no state was left behind once it was announced.
On Oct 8, the PM said he would make an announcement on interstate travel and the reopening of borders soon.
A total of 89.7 percent of the country's adult population has been fully vaccinated as of yesterday. - Mkini
