Shafie denies allowing Sindumin rep to leave Warisan
Warisan president Shafie Apdal yesterday denied allegations that he allowed Sindumin assemblyperson Yusof Yacob to leave the party.
In fact, Shafie said he had never given his 'blessings' to any elected representative or party member to leave Warisan, and the party saw Yusof's action as his personal decision.
He said Yusof only informed him about his intention to leave the party verbally, but until now, Warisan has not received any letter on the move by the Sindumin assemblyperson.
"No party president will persuade his assemblyperson to leave the party... if there are (elected representatives leaving Warisan) we will take legal action, drag them to court... we do this so that our struggle is not a seasonal one.
"It is time for the opposition and our party members to work hard to be successful, not only to help the people but to make us 'yang berhormat' (honourable)," he said at a press conference after chairing a meeting with the party's leaders in Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu, yesterday.
Two days ago, Yusof, who is also the former Warisan information chief, in announcing his resignation from the party claimed that he had discussed and expressed his intention to leave the party with Shafie and the president had no obstacles for him if he did so.
