Worry about your PN-BN fighting, PKR man fires back at Azmin
MALACCA POLLS | Bersatu supreme council member Azmin Ali should focus on his own Perikatan Nasional coalition fighting with BN, instead of worrying about PKR's internal affairs, PKR treasurer Lee Chean Chung said.
He said this in response to the international trade and industry minister's visit to Machap Jaya yesterday, where Azmin expressed sadness at the constituency's incumbent assemblyperson Ginie Lim being dropped by PKR as a candidate in the Malacca polls.
Lim was previously seen as being aligned with Azmin, who was PKR deputy president until his defection to Bersatu. Lim remained with PKR.
"He (Azmin) should settle the complicated relationship between PN and BN. He has no relationship with Pakatan Harapan now," Lee (above), who was working the ground in Machap Jaya, told Malaysiakini.
BN and PN are contesting against each other in all 28 state seats in Malacca, despite both being part of the same federal government.
In Machap Jaya, PKR has fielded Law Bing Haw to succeed Lim. The move had led to some grassroots expressing their unhappiness, which Azmin has appeared to try and take advantage of.
Lee said it appeared Azmin still could not forget PKR, stating that it showed the party was still relevant.
He also stressed that Lim, despite not being fielded, has thrown her weight behind Law.
"She has expressed her position. Through her actions and statements, she has clearly stated that she will support PKR's Machap Jaya candidate.
"Our focus is to ensure we will win while Azmin is engaging in gossip," Lee said.
Among the issues that PKR is working on for the local community is the matter of the villagers' land lease, he added.
The other candidates contesting in Machap Jaya are PN's Tai Siong Jiul, BN's Ngwe Hee Sem, Iman's Abdul Aziz and independent candidate Azlan Daud.
The 12-day campaign period for the Malacca polls will come to a close this Friday. Malaccans will elect 28 members to the State Legislative Assembly on Saturday, Nov 20. - Mkini
