Liverpool highly likely to sign Brazilian superstar, suggests Sky Sports-backed study
This is a very weird one…
Remember when Sky Sports teamed up with Football Manager and started sharing player ‘stats’ – like ‘Coutinho is 16/20 good at dribbling’ – for instance? They got panned – and we assume the same will happen now they’ve joined forced with Football Whispers, who have ‘developed a unique algorithm to take all of the transfer rumours from across the globe and calculate the likelihood of them happening’.
On the basis of Football Whispers’ study, Sky Sports have published a story linking Lucas Moura to Liverpool, suggesting he’s a 4/5 likelihood to sign this summer.
From a reliable and reputable media outlet, this seems a little ridiculous for us.
Making matters even more odd, they claim Piotr Zielinski is only a 1.1/5 to sign, which seems equally stupid because the Pole’s transfer seems nailed on and could be completed soon (via Echo).
We won’t run any more stories by Football Whispers, as whatever algorithm they’re using – it isn’t working.
Lucas Moura, incidentally, would be an awesome signing. He’s quick, skilful and provides pace, width and goals. Sadly, we have very little chance of acquiring him without Champions League Football, aware that his transfer fee would be enormous as well.
James Pearce confirmed yesterday that our primary wing target is Sadio Mane, anyway.
