KUALA LUMPUR (April 6): Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad pledged to abolish the goods-and-services tax and maintain economic growth at 6% should he win Malaysia’s upcoming election and retake power.

While the pace won’t be as torrid as the close-to-10% rates seen in his two-decade rule as prime minister, the 92-year-old leader of the opposition says he can keep the economy growing at 6% annually, he said in an interview on Friday.
