Mukhriz hopes Putrajaya will mull continuing incomplete state projects

The Kedah government is hoping that the federal government will consider continuing important projects where the progress is less than 15 percent for the benefit of Kedahans.
Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir said that although there were instructions to defer the projects from the federal government, the state government felt that there was need for the projects to be re-evaluated for continuation.
“I had raised this matter at the National Physical Planning Meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya yesterday (Tuesday) for projects like the Pendang Hospital, water treatment plants, several roads and mosque projects to be continued.
“Pursuant to the meeting, we will write in officially to the Economic Affairs Ministry to inform the federal government which are the projects we deem important and need to be expedited,” he told reporters after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting in Alor Setar yesterday.
Elaborating further, Mukhriz said there were scores of projects where progress was at less than 15 percent including the Pendang Hospital based on the full list obtained from the Implementation Coordination Unit.
“We understand the federal government is stressing on reducing the national debt but we hope these important projects like the Pendang Hospital can be continued ,” he said.
