Yoursay: Najib has to stick to the ‘lie’, it’s too late to change script

YOURSAY | Najib thinks he can fool people by these ‘bits and pieces, half-truth’ stories.
Clever Voter: Former premier Najib Razak will soon move into the overdrive in his eagerness to prove the allegations wrong, and also to inform the public of his innocence.
The launch of the recent books on the 1MDB scandal has done severe damage to his credibility. No matter what he shows or says, he should be advised to remain silent if he really wants to prove himself. Allowing him the freedom to speak is a double-edged sword.
Heads or tails, he is on the losing side – as 1MDB chairperson, prime minister, he’s held accountable; as account holder, there’s tangible proof (he was on the receiving end).
Whatever else detailed in the allegations cannot be removed as forensic accounting will trace the source. Najib's signature is everywhere, plus the publicity of his stepson’s and associate’s decadent lifestyle will not be in his favour.
Najib can push to delay the finale, but the more information he provides, the more ammunition he gives away.
The world waits for him to do a strip show, but it’s unlikely he would be able to do that as the chips are already down. That's reality.
Lipdah: Najib thinks he can fool people by these ''bits and pieces, half-truth'' stories. He is just exposing himself more.
Remember how he once denied ever receiving this money in his bank account?
Anonymous_afc357a0: Najib has to stick to the alleged lie. It’s too late to change script; only ex-attorney-general (AG) Mohamed Apandi Ali would have entertained his lie and let him off.
Najib thought cash is king and that he would never fall from his throne. It has become clear that even the Saudi royals and Umno are now avoiding him.
Royal Salute 21Y: Forget about all these foreign transactions, it will take many years for the authorities to gather the evidence.
Najib, concentrate all your energy on defending yourself in the SRC charges filed against you as it happened right here in Malaysia.
Bank transactions never lie nor can they be deleted like Altantuya Shaariibuu's entry record was deleted by Immigration. You are no longer the prime minister, and in politics, winner takes all.
Anonymous_cdb4fb5d: The US$50 million and US$30 million in 2011 from the Saudi Finance Ministry are genuine donations the rogue Saudis give to Muslim countries, including Pakistan, to help spread Wahhabism.
But why was it channelled into Najib’s personal account? This is illegal because the money should have been channelled to the Malaysian government.
Did Najib ask the Saudis to send the funds into his account to later use it for other purposes?
Fair Play: A drowning man is grasping at a straw, any straw. It doesn't matter if the straw is the length and size of a human hair.
Hplooi: MCA received RM16 million from Najib. Pleading ignorance to the sources of the fund is no excuse.
Model Miranda Kerr returned her bling and actor Leonardo di Caprio handed over his painting. So, as a first step towards restoring trust, return the RM16 million.
I hope the MACC will not let this case lapse into NFA (no further action).
StraightTalk: Najib was prime minister and also the finance minister. To say that he may have been unaware of whatever that was happening in 1MDB is just not acceptable.
As the nation's prime minister, how did he allow himself to become a puppet of Jho Low when even the slightest hint of some hanky-panky dealings at the nation's sovereign fund should have been brought to the authorities straight away and firmly dealt with by Najib?
It only seems certain that Najib, and the authorities taking orders from him, were only concerned with plugging all the scandalous holes created due to total manipulation and mismanagement of the fund.
All involved must be brought to face justice. There is no excuse.
Pakcik Am: It is far, far more likely that Jho Low was Najib's nominee. He held all the alleged loot for Najib.
Under Malaysia's race-based affirmative action policy, a lot of business was done by non-Malays through Malay nominees. Here the "business" was done in reverse by a Malay with a trustworthy Chinese man as nominee.
Mosquitobrain: Najib, there is nothing shocking than more denials coming from you. The way you've allegedly collaborated with Jho Low to plunder 1MDB sovereign funds is unthinkable as a head of state.
You've treated the stolen 1MDB money as a political slush fund for the benefit of your party and family members.
Najib, you cannot continue playing denial games. The party that you once helmed and the 'loyal' warlords are now distancing themselves from you.
CKL: 1MDB was shocking because we know how much was stolen and could trace the money back to Najib.
But in essence, 1MDB is no different from the many public projects awarded to cronies like in MRT3, the AES (Automated Enforcement System) scheme or timber concessions in Sabah and Sarawak.
The cronies cranked up the costs and then shared the loot. These schemes were written in watertight legal documents so it is hard to trace how the "profits" were shared. The public cannot see the loss directly.

1MDB is unique only because of the scale, the audacity, the direct payments into Najib's account and the eye-catching Equanimity. - Mkini
