Taps to run dry up to 72 hours in 4 Selangor districts from Oct 9
As such the water supply disruption is expected to last between 35 hours and 72 hours – with water supply expected to be fully restored by Oct 12.
People are advised to conserve water to ride out the disruption water supply so as not to be left high and dry.
The districts involved are Petaling (132,000 account holders), Hulu Langat (64,000), Sepang (86,000) and Kuala Langat (58,000), with dry taps affecting 476 areas.
“There will be 80 static tanks placed in critical areas like schools, mosques as well as apartments and flats.
“Our seven local service centres will operate 24 hours beginning Oct 9 to assist with enquiries and relief water supply,” Siew said during a briefing today (Oct 1).
A total of 62 water tankers will deployed to the affected areas, and 10 jumbo tankers will be placed in selected locations.
About 20,000 five-litre drinking water bottles will also be distributed during this time.
Syabas said the full list of areas affected would be made available at www.syabas.com.my.- Star
