‘PAKATAN CANNOT COMPROMISE WITH THIEVES – THOSE WHO SIDED WITH NAJIB MUST BE PUNISHED’: KHAIRUDDIN WARNS ZAHID EVEN IF HE SIGNED STATUTORY DECLARATION TO SUPPORT PAKATAN HE CANNOT ESCAPE CORRUPTION CHARGES

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan leaders must uphold its principles and bring corrupt Umno leaders to justice, even though they support the current government, says Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan.

“Those who abused their power and were corrupt have been rejected by the people in the 14th General Election.

“The Pakatan Harapan leadership cannot compromise with thieves.

“We cannot betray the desires of the people who want to see corrupt Umno leaders brought to justice,” the former Batu Kawan Umno vice-chief said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 20).

He said that the corrupt Umno leaders were not sincere, adding that they had signed a statutory declaration only to save themselves.

Previously it was reported that Umno MPs had signed a statutory declaration which empowered Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to cooperate with other political parties and coalitions including the current ruling government and PAS.

Khairuddin said he does not doubt that there are good Umno leaders, but he said those who had sided with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak must be punished.

He said he had cautioned Zahid that signing a statutory declaration, even if it is to support Pakatan, should not be used as a method to escape any legal action.
