SEMENYIH: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s “Bossku” catchphrase is getting so popular that T-shirts with the saying are flying off the shelves, according to a trader.
Ali Nasution, who has set up shop not far from the Barisan Nasional command centre at Dataran Mohd Said here, said it was so catchy that he was sure the T-shirts priced between RM5 and RM10 would continue selling long after the by-election.
“The catchphrase is strong even if it is now associated with Najib, who is embroiled in several corruption scandals. It is popular with the youth who don’t really care if it is linked to him now,” said the 20-year-old.
Assisted by his siblings Izah, 19, and Iqbal, 18, Ali said business had been brisk during the campaign period with Barisan supporters and many others flocking to his store.
He said a supporter from Johor even bought 200 pieces to sell in his area.
Several Barisan supporters were seen buying the merchandise, saying that they also bought them as souvenirs for friends who were not necessarily Barisan supporters.
Ali said he had to renew his stock every day.
However, he refused to reveal where he got his supplies.
“That’s a trade secret,” he said.- Star
