KAJANG: Three Indonesian maids fled to safety after alleging abuse by their employer, a Tan Sri.
The three are believed to have run away from a bungalow in Country Heights with the help of a man who took them to the Indonesian embassy to seek assistance.
“Embassy officials made a report on March 22 regarding the abuse," said Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof in a statement released on Friday (March 29).
"The three victims, aged between 25 to 41, had worked with their employer for seven years, four years and six months respectively.
“Prelimary investigations showed that they ran away after being unable to put up with the rough treatment by the employer and his Puan Sri wife.
All three claimed they were punched and slapped, as well as had their pay and passports withheld,” he said.
ACP Ahmad Dzaffir added that the three victims escaped by climbing the fence of their employer's house and was later assisted by an unknown man who brought them to the Indonesian embassy.
“Investigations at the scene led to the seizure of two passports and an i-card belonging to the victims that were held by the suspect’s secretary.
"Medical checks on the victims showed no signs of physical injuries. The same checks also showed no signs of sexual or mental abuse on the victims,” he said.
ACP Ahmad Dzaffir added that the victims had been sent to a safe house after an interim protection order was granted by the Magistrate Court.-Star
