Ignorance on Jalur Gemilang a ‘betrayal’ - Maszlee

It is unforgivable that some Malaysians are ignorant about the national flag Jalur Gemilang, said Education Minister Maszlee Malik, who described such ignorance as a “betrayal”.

“To me, people who claim to be Malaysian citizens but are ignorant about the Jalur Gemilang cannot be forgiven.

“This cannot be dismissed as stupidity or ignorance but should be seen as a betrayal to our nationalism.

“Nevertheless, for the Education Ministry, we should be the ministry responsible for education each Malaysian citizen with everyone’s help,” he said while winding up debates on his ministry’s budget for 2020 at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Yesterday, polis summoned Malaysian Basketball Association (Maba) president Lua Choon Hann after the association displayed a "Malaysian flag" that depicted a five-point star instead of having 14 points on Sunday night during a competition.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said Luo had been questioned at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters at 8am this morning.

According to Mazlan, Luo had told the police that the error was not made by Maba but its IT consultant, and he had advised Luo to lodge a police report at the nearby Tun HS Lee police station.

“The consultant has also been summoned for an investigation to determine whether there is a motive behind the incident and whether it was intentional or not,” he was quoted as saying. - Mkini
