PKR Youth removes seven excos after no-shows at meetings

PKR Youth has removed seven executive committee members from its leadership council due to non-attendance at meetings.
According to a letter issued to one of the seven members - that was sighted by Malaysiakini - the decision was made based on the rule that those absent from six consecutive leadership council meetings without a valid reason are regarded as having resigned from their posts.
It also mentioned that the party had not received a response to its Dec 18 show-cause letter.
The missive was dated today (Jan 15) and signed by the youth secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Razab.

When contacted, PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasrullah Nasir (photo) confirmed the authenticity of the letter.
The excos who were issued the letter are Nagarajan Kaniappan, Ahmad Khairul Mohamed Noor, Mohd Akmal Hisyam Ahmad Tamyiz, Mohd Firdaus Yusoff, Mohd Izad Buqhary Mohd Kamri, Nik Mohd Faris Syazwan Zainuzzaman and Wan Mohamad Fitri Wan Abdul Rahim.
Due process followed
Akmal explained that the seven were removed following due process.
He pointed to how PKR Youth had published the attendance records of all 73 leadership council members during the wing’s congress last month.
The records, included in a report issued to all delegates during the congress, showed that the seven had not attended any meetings in 2019 and had not given any reasons.
“We were transparent to publish (it) during the congress. No one actually questioned or tried to question the attendance (record list). No one challenged it.
“So basically, the due process has been done,” he said.
Akmal said that exco replacements will be discussed by the council at a meeting this Sunday.
“According to the rules, the PKR Youth chief can decide the replacements,” he added. - Mkini
