Kampung Belaga bridge underwater following downpour
KUALA KRAI: Heavy rains in the enterior of Kelantan since yesterday overwhelmed a bridge at Kampung Belaga, here, today.
The swollen Pahi river flowed through the 30-metre long concrete bridge connecting Kampung Pahi to Kampung Temalir but did not swept it away.
Kuala Krai district police chief Superintendent Suzaimi Mohammad said the bridge was underwater when the river rose slightly following the heavy downpour yesterday.
"It is normal for the bridge to be underwater following heavy rain.
"This incident should not cause much problem to the villagers as they can still use other alternative routes," he added.
Meanwhile, Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Department chief Muhammad Rizwan Ar-Rafee Parsimin said firemen were deployed to the scene after receiving a report on the incident.
"A team of five firemen have been stationed there to monitor the situation." he added. - NST
