GRS appreciates Sabah Umno's stand to stay

Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor has expressed his appreciation to Sabah Umno for voicing their commitment to stay with the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.

He said yesterday that the statement showed the strong commitment of all GRS leaders to uphold the mandate of the people of Sabah who had elected a new government under the coalition.

Hajiji, who is Bersatu's Sulaman assemblyperson and the GRS chairperson, said the struggle to be with the people needs to be continued by all Sabah leaders by working together and remaining united.

Earlier, Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin, who is also the deputy chief minister, said the party has pledged to stay with its partners in the ruling GRS to defend the Sabah government despite the latest political developments in the country.

The GRS deputy chairperson also said that Sabah Umno would defend the current Sabah government to ensure that promises made to the people in the 16th state election last year would be fulfilled.

Hajiji, in a statement, said the state government’s priority is to safeguard the fate and future of the people and the state.

“The challenge is for us to address the health, safety, and economic issues following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Therefore, as the GRS chairperson, I really appreciate his (Bung Moktar's) stand to stay with the GRS government in Sabah,” Hajiji added.

GRS comprises Bersatu, Star, SAPP and PAS in Perikatan Nasional; Umno, MCA, MIC and PBRS in BN; as well as PBS.
