Covid-19 deaths (Sept 21): 301 reported fatalities, total at 23,744
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry's Github data repository reported a total of 301 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday, bringing the cumulative death toll to 23,744.
The highest record was 592 on Sept 11.
From the newly reported deaths yesterday, 31 percent, or 92, died before they could receive treatment at a hospital.
Selangor recorded the highest number of new deaths at 130, making up 43 percent of the newly reported fatalities.
The remaining deaths were in Johor (52), Kelantan (23), Penang (22), Sabah (19), Perak (15), Kuala Lumpur (13), Sarawak (8), Kedah (6), Pahang (4), Terengganu (4), Malacca (3), Negeri Sembilan (1) and Perlis (1).
No new deaths were reported in Labuan and Putrajaya.
A total of 141 out of the 301 reported deaths happened in the last seven days, of which only eight was from yesterday.
The remaining reported deaths were older than a week due to backlog.
An average of 327 Covid-19 deaths was reported daily in the last 30 days. The seven-day average is 374.
As of yesterday, there were 207,698 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 8.95 percent compared to the 228,124 active infections a week ago.
Previously, the Health Ministry released deaths statistics together with the number of new Covid-19 cases in the evening. This had since changed.
Deaths statistics are now released the next day by 2am. Malaysiakini reports them in the morning. - Mkini
