Heartbreak for mum as six-year-old is found dead in mining pond
GOPENG: A mother’s heart was shattered when the body of her young son, who had been missing since yesterday evening, was found floating in a mining pond in Taman Kinta Baru, here, this morning.
Nur Shamimi Abdul Malek 27, wept over the demise of her second child, Muhammad Fayyadh Ukasyah Abdul Wahid, six, whom she regarded as the most affectionate in the family.
“Before he slept, he would seek and hold my leg first before he could nod off. In fact, he would look for me first before he did anything else when he woke up,” she said, sobbing, when met by reporters here, today.
The mother of five children, aged between three months and eight years old, said she did not expect Muhammad Fayyadh’s body to be found in the mining pond, some 80 metres from their house, as he had never gone to the area before.
She said that she only realised that Muhammad Fayyadh, who was hyperactive, had poor hearing and could not speak, was nowhere near the house when she was in the shower at about 6.30pm yesterday.
“After a shower, I saw the door was open, so I quickly told my eldest to go look for him at the places he often went to play, including the slide at the playground, but he was not there,” she said.
She also said that Muhammad Fayyadh would normally run out of the house once the gates were left open, adding that her husband had just returned from work at the factory when the incident occurred.
The body of the boy, who was reported missing since yesterday evening, was found floating in a mining pond by a search and rescue team from the Gopeng police station at 9.45am today.
Kampar district police chief Hasron Nazri Hashim, said that preliminary examination of the body of the victim ruled out any criminal element.
The body has been sent to the Kampar Hospital for a post-mortem. The investigation continues, with the case currently classified as sudden death. - FMT
