Felda settler dies from gunshot in Pahang
A settler died after he was believed to have been shot in the chest at an oil palm estate in Felda Bukit Sagu 4, Pahang, today.
Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the gunshot that hit Mohamad Omar, 67, from Felda Bukit Sagu, was suspected to have come from a homemade rifle found at the scene of the incident.
The police were alerted to the incident at 4.22pm by staff of Bukit Goh Medical Clinic after the victim was taken there by his wife and a friend.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim had gone to harvest oil palm around 10am before contacting his wife at 3.36pm informing her that he had been shot.
"The victim’s wife claimed that her husband was found in critical condition by his best friend, who she had sought for help in locating him. He was pronounced dead by the doctor at 4.20 pm,” Wan Zahari said when contacted today.
He said the victim, who also suffered injuries to his right palm, had been taken to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for an autopsy.
