Maulidur Rasul celebrations in Johor mosques, surau postponed
The Johor government has instructed all mosques and surau to postpone the organisation of Maulidur Rasul celebrations scheduled for Oct 19 to a new date to be announced later.
Johor Religious Affairs Committee chairperson Tosrin Jarvanthi said the order to postpone the event was issued as a precautionary move following the increase in Covid-19 cases involving several sub-districts in the state.
“However, the celebration can still be done and carried live online while adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the State Islamic Religious Council and the government,” he said in a statement today.
He added that only 50 people, including the imam, bilal and those on duty can attend the state-level celebration scheduled to be held at the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque next Monday.
