Khairuddin, Nik Abduh and Zuhdi reappointed to PAS leadership
The PAS working committee chaired by party president Abdul Hadi Awang has decided to reappoint a number of high-profile leaders who were defeated in the PAS leadership election earlier this month.
The party announced that Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki, who had unsuccessfully challenged incumbent PAS vice-presidents Idris Ahmad, Mohd Amar Abdullah and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, will be made a central committee member.
Likewise, Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and Khairuddin Aman Razali, who failed to make the cut in the party election, will also be appointed as central committee members.
The trio was known as being favourable towards PAS cooperating with Umno, a position that goes against Hadi's stand. The PAS president wants the party to stick with Bersatu under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner.
PAS contested under PN in last Saturday's Malacca polls but failed to win any seat.
Umno had since mocked the party, stating that it could have won at least three seats had it cooperated with BN.
Khairuddin had been the most critical of Hadi, criticising him in a purported audio recording. He was subsequently dropped as a minister.
The decision to reappoint the trio to the central leadership was made last Sunday.
The new appointments were announced by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan in a statement.
In total, nine people were appointed as central committee members.
The others are Awang Hashim, Misbahul Munir Masduki, Mohd Yusni Mat Piah, Mohd Mazri Yahya, Wan Rohimi Wan Daud and Hakeem Johari.
Incumbent Malacca PAS commissioner Kamarudin Sidek was also replaced. He will be succeeded by Zulkifli Ismail. - Mkini
