Covid-19 deaths (Dec 3): 47 reported fatalities, mostly in Selangor
COVID-19 | The Health Ministry's Github data repository reported a total of 47 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Dec 2), bringing the cumulative death toll to 30,521.
Daily reported deaths is up 6.9 percent over the last seven days compared with the week before, although active Covid-19 cases were down 8.8 percent over the same time span.
The highest number of deaths were reported in Selangor (9), followed by Kelantan (6), Perak (6), Sabah (6), Penang (5), Terengganu (5), Kuala Lumpur (3), Johor (2), Kedah (1), Malacca (1), Negeri Sembilan (1), Sarawak (1) and Labuan (1).
No new deaths were reported in Pahang, Perlis and Putrajaya.
According to the CovidNow website, the highest incidences of Covid-19 deaths (deaths per million) over the past two weeks occured in Terengganu, Kelantan and Perak.
Almost all the deaths reported yesterday (95.7 percent) happened in the last seven days. The other reported deaths happened more than a week ago but were only recorded yesterday due to delays in data reporting or classification.
An average of 49 Covid-19 deaths were reported daily in the last 30 days compared to the seven-day average of 47, indicating a downtrend.
As of yesterday, there were 62,253 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 9.5 percent from the 68,755 active infections a week ago.
Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has fallen by 6.9 percent from 66,864.
