Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer Posted: 20 May 2016 07:08 PM PDT
Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer - The lungs, (like every other organ of the body), are covered with a special lining known as mesothelium. When this membrane is healthy, it protects the lungs from germs or other things that invade the body. However, if the lining gets inflicted with asbestos particles, it can be dangerous both for the lungs themselves and for the other organs in one's system. When this happens, the person has contracted Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer, a disease that erodes the lung's functioning by attacking it with abnormal cells. Life expectancy for victims of Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer is usually not very long. Those that are able to beat the cancer, usually had it diagnosed in its early stages. With that being said, who should go on and get themselves diagnosed for Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer? Basically, anyone who has an older home, lives in an environment where there are high asbestos levels in the soil, or works in an industry where there is a lot of asbestos exposure needs to consider getting diagnosed for the disease. This is whether or not they get symptoms. In fact, the symptoms of Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer tend to appear closer to when the body is close to dying from this disease. It can be several decades before this happens. So, it's best to get testing done even if a person feels relatively healthy. So, what is involved with Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer testing? First, a person will have a normal physical exam. After that they will receive a chest X-ray and undergo lung function tests. If there are problems breathing and evidence of extra fluid in the lungs, a doctor may suspect Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer. They will continue further diagnosis through a CAT scan and/or an MRI. After this a cytology is performed. This is when the extra fluid in the lungs are drained through a syringe. It is then reviewed for any abnormal cells. If there are abnormal cells found, the doctor will want the patient to have a biopsy. This is when doctors extract a small amount of tissue to determine if it does have cancer. If a person is found to have Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer, they will be directed towards chemotherapy and/or surgery to remove the cancerous lesions. In either case Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer is not an easy cancer to treat. Even if the disease is caught early, it could take a series of chemotherapy sessions and/or surgeries for one to become healthy again. And even then things may not work. This is why many Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer sufferers are on the prowl for alternative treatments. For those who are unlucky enough to get Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer, they could go through a myriad of emotions, ranging from fear, anger to eventual acceptance. The ability to accept the condition is probably the best response one can have, because at least it gives them more spiritual power to fight their illness. And for many people, spiritual power may be the only solution to cure themselves of Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer, at least until modern medicine can provide a more 'official' treatment. |
