Doctor’s Warning: Never Clean Your Child With Baby Wipes No Matter What

According to many parents Baby wipes are a necessity in this modern era. They are extremely handy in lot of situations. They are effective too, for everything!doctors-warning-never-clean-your-child-with-baby-wipes-no-matter-what

They can be used for face, dirty hands, and toys. However, we’ve thought that they are completely safe to be used, yet some studies have proved otherwise. Many parents should consider the possibility that the baby wipes that they use are not that safe as they think.

Doctors suggest that to stop the baby wipes usage on our little ones. We are actually exposing them to certain risks by doing so and possibly we are endangering their skin.

In one special report, the NBC News reported that they are not safe for usage because of the presence of one ingredient. That’s why those children at which were used baby wipes have irritated skin and it caused them rashes and red scaly skin.

One professor at the University of Connecticut, on the Department of dermatology and pediatrics, Dr. Mary Wu Chang has made some experiments on various children, and she was intrigued by the results.

A girl with 8 years had rashes on her buttocks and around the mouth. The area of the rashes was indicating to the baby wipes usage. When she consulted the mother, the mother said that she had been treating those areas with the baby wet wipes.

Remembering the previous report that Dr. Chang stumbled upon during her research, another case where one Belgian man had a severe chemical and allergic reaction to the chemical preservative methylisothiazolinone – Dr. Chang connected this preservative to the exact baby wipe reaction as the reaction to the little girl.

She did the tests on her own so as to check the validity of the allergy and it showed positive. Then, she told the mother to stop using wet wipes which helped the rashes to disappear very quick.

The next year, Dr. Chang found these allergic reactions in other kids that their parents used on them, and when they stopped using them, the rashes were gone.

Methylisothiazolinone is also present in baby product brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Huggies, and Cottonelle. So you should consider replacing these chemicals with some natural solution.

Dr. Ellen Frankel is another dermatologist who agrees with Dr. Chang’s opinion, and she says:

“I always tell parents to do not under any circumstances use diaper wipes. They have many chemicals in there, and can irritate skin that is already damaged sitting in urine, or feces, or sitting in a diaper that’s just got an inclusive surface on it.”

You have to always check for the ingredients on the baby wipe box. In case you spot that methylisothiazolinone is present, you should stop using the wipes, and you are going to prevent any unwanted rashes and other skin diseases to you and to your loved one.

We suggest you to create your own wipes at home by using natural products.

You can use some cloth with warm water if you want to keep your baby clean. Say a big NO to usage of baby wipes.
