A Time When Kit Siang Called Mahathir The Biggest Crocodile In Corruption

Today Uncle Kit Siang has his mouth sealed by Malaysia’s biggest crocodile in corruption. People have their own thinking now whether this is one of the reasons that cause Malaysia’s CPI to fall.

(Malaysian Chinese News) – Our ranking in Corruption Perception Index continues to decline. The MACC chief claimed that it was unfair because he had been working very hard in cleaning up corruption. He even counter-proposed that Malaysia should have its own ranking system.
In this respect, this writer must praise the progress made by MACC. At least we have seen senior government officials being probed or arrested in recent years. Good examples are the imprisonment of former Selangor Menteri Besar related to his luxury bungalow and the investigation of Penang chief minister for buying a bungalow at low price.
When the (2017) CPI was announced, people from different quarters were attacking each other. Opposition parties alleged that the ruling parties are getting even more corrupt while others believe that Selangor and Penang are also the cause of falling CPI. For example, the Selangor Menteri Besar gave a RM30 billion privatized project to a RM2 company a few years ago and also the Penang controversial RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel project.
It can be remembered that during the time of Pakatan Rakyat, Uncle Kit Siang and Pakatan had repeatedly called Mahathir the biggest crocodile in corruption. Even now, people can still get tons of such allegations on the net made by Pakatan Rakyat or Pakatan Harapan as well as their supporters.
At this juncture, this writer must thank Uncle Kit Siang for overseeing Mahathir in the last 38 years. He has made strenuous efforts in raising funds, making speeches, distributing leaflets, publishing books, starting a party newspaper The Rocket and finally set up his personal blog and portals in reminding people to be aware of Mahathir. He tackled Mahathir’s cronies and supporters so that Malaysia would not be dominated by Mahathir singularly.
I can remember Uncle Kit Siang making a promise that once in power, a Royal Commission of Enquiry would be set up to probe Mahathir’s RM100 billion scandal. I was young then and was full of expectation. It is a pity that with the establishment of Pakatan Harapan, Uncle Kit Siang has not been effective in stopping Mahathir.
Now the two arch rivals are working in co-operation to take over the government. One is most corrupt and the other is anti-corruption. If they came into power, the corrupt will continue to be corrupt but will the anti-corrupt continue to fight corruption?
We have not heard Uncle Kit Siang talking about old stories of Mahathir. He does not bother even if Mahathir’s family members still own 489 companies in the country or announcement by the Royal Commission of Enquiry of the RM31.5 billion in forex losses. By and by we have seen Penang and Selangor officials driving luxury cars and staying in luxury houses. Even Uncle Kit Siang has condoned the younger people to enjoy some luxury.
As the election is near, Pakatan Harapan is growing strong. Mahathir who personalizes corruption in the words of Uncle Kit Siang has made a comeback. The world now has a different perception and interpretations of Mahathir as well as the efforts made by Uncle Kit Siang.
Today Uncle Kit Siang has his mouth sealed by Malaysia’s biggest crocodile in corruption. People have their own thinking now whether this is one of the reasons that cause Malaysia’s CPI to fall.
