Elderly Chinese Woman with Alzheimer’s Tries to Pick Up Adult Daughter From Kindergarten
An elderly woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease tried to pick up her adult daughter from a kindergarten that she used to attend over three decades ago in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China.
The heartbreaking moment happened last week when the 84-year-old unnamed elderly woman rode a bus to a local kindergarten, according to Chinese media via Shanghaiist.
Upon arriving at the school, the elderly woman told the guard at the gate that she was there to pick up a girl surnamed Bai; however, after checking the records, the guard did not find anyone with that surname. After the police arrived, they were able to help the woman by calling her daughter.
The adult daughter then went to the police station to pick up her mother. When asked what she was doing at the kindergarten, her elderly mother replied: “I came to find you.”
“Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior,” ALZ.org wrote on its website. “Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.”
