Biker crashes into escaped horse, both killed

KUANTAN (Bernama): A mechanic died after the motorcycle he was riding collided into a horse believed to have escaped from its stable in Lipis on Thursday (May 16) night.

Lipis district police chief, Supt Azli Mohd Noor said the 9.40pm incident caused Muhammad Shukri Che Aris, 22, to die on the spot because of severe injuries to his body and head. 

“The victim, who was on his way from Lipis to Merapoh, is believed not to have noticed the horse because the road was very dark,” he said in a statement on Friday (May 17).

Azli said the accident close to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Merapoh also caused the horse to die on the spot.

The owner of the horse has been called in to help with investigations, which are being carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987

The body of the victim, from Kampung Persit Merapoh in Gua Musang, Kelantan, has been sent to the Lipis Hospital for post-mortem. – Bernama
