PKR confirms sacking Haniza and four others, issues warning to Tian Chua
PKR has confirmed the sacking of five leaders linked to its former deputy president Azmin Ali.
The five were PKR Women's chief Haniza Talha, PKR Penang Women's chief Nur Zarina Zakaria, PKR Sabah Women's chief Rahimah Majid, and two Penang assemblypersons Dr Afif Bahardin (Seberang Jaya) as well as Zulkifli Ibrahim (Sungai Acheh), said disciplinary board chairperson Ahmad Kassim.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that PKR had sacked four leaders.
The decision was made by PKR's central leadership council after studying recommendations by the disciplinary board.
The party initiated a disciplinary probe against those known to be aligned with Azmin who triggered the "Sheraton Move" in late February that led to the downfall of the Pakatan Harapan coalition government.
On the night of Feb 23, Azmin’s faction had met with Umno and PAS MPs at the Sheraton Hotel, which became the catalyst for a chain of events that resulted in the change of government.
Azmin eventually quit the party to join forces with Bersatu, Umno, and PAS to form Perikatan Nasional, which took over the country’s administration.
Ahmad said PKR also issued a warning against its vice-president Tian Chua, Machap Jaya state assemblyperson Ginie Lim, and Penang Wanita communication chief Carolyn Khor.
Previously, the party agreed to suspend a member for allegedly being involved in the physical attack against Chua on March 30, pending an investigation by the authorities.
Chua was reportedly assaulted and hit on the head by angry members and supporters at the PKR headquarters after the Sheraton move. - Mkini
