Perak Amanah chief open to cooperating with other parties

Perak Amanah leader Asmuni Awi says “nothing is impossible”.

IPOH: Perak Amanah is open to working with anyone to form a new coalition state government, the party’s state leader, Asmuni Awi, said today.

“Nothing is impossible”, he replied when asked whether his party would be willing to work with other political parties in the state en route to establishing a new state government.

“During these difficult times, we are prepared to work with anybody to form a stable government,” he briefly told Bernama.

Asmuni was among three PH leaders who sought an audience with the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah today after menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumi was defeated on a confidence motion at the state assembly yesterday.

Yesterday, Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz of Umno was reported to have proposed that the party work with Amanah and PKR to form a new government in the state as the two parties had also voted against the confidence motion.

Umno has 25 seats in the 59-member assembly, Amanah has 5 and PKR 3. The previous state government was formed by Umno, PPBM (5) and PAS (5). Pakatan Harapan has 24 seats.

None of the PH leaders were present at a special state-level Umno meeting held tonight, attended by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Nazri. - FMT
