After Adenan, Sabah CM under pressure to state stand on Hadi’s Bill
KOTA KINABALU, June 6 — Pakatan Harapan’s Sabah chapter wants state chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman to make a stand on whether he would support PAS’s bid on expanding the range of punishments by Shariah courts.
Sabah PKR chief Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin said that Musa should make his views known since Sarawak chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem had already said he would oppose PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s Bill.
"We don't agree with the Bill. Sabah and Sarawak are different from Semenanjung Malaysia. The cultural beliefs and the social makeup is different. We want Sabah CM to make a stand," Lajim said at a news conference here.
Yesterday, PBB president and Sarawak CM Adenan said implementation of the Islamic criminal law would not be suitable in multiracial Sarawak, where Muslims comprise about 25 per cent of the population.
