Watch the heart-stopping moment when a lion charges at a little boy in Japan (VIDEO)
TOKYO, June 6 — Word of advice: In a staring contest with a lion, you are likely to end up the cropper.
The heart-stopping video above, which was reportedly shot at a zoo in Chiba, Japan shows exactly what could happen if the predator takes a disliking to you — or sees you as its next meal.
What makes it even more gut wrenching is the fact it involves a tiny boy.
Multiple news reports have suggested that he had unwittingly engaged the huge beast in a staring contest while visiting the zoo.
All it took was for them to lock eyes for a few seconds, and as soon as the boy turned his back, natural predatory instinct took over.
In the video, the 181kg lion can be seen charging towards the boy dressed in a bright yellow anorak before smashing into the safety glass with full force, paws and mane pressed against the window.
As he slinks away, the little boy can be heard giggling, clearly oblivious to what could have happened.
The keepers at the zoo reportedly claimed that the animal just wanted to play with the toddler, but we’re not too sure about that after viewing the video.
