PAS TO RETURN TO UMNO AS ITS RELIGIOUS ARM? ZAHID’S ‘TEAM B’ TO BE KICKED OUT TO MAKE ROOM FOR HADI & CO?

PUTRAJAYA: It is up to the PAS leadership to determine if the party should return to the Umno fold, said Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

The Umno secretary-general said Umno is inclusive and prepared to listen and provide the opportunity if PAS wished to return to Umno in a sincere and honest way.

He said this in response to a proposal that PAS return to become Umno’s Religious Affairs Bureau in conjunction with Umno’s 71st anniversary on May 11.

PAS was established on Nov 24, 1951 when the third meeting of the Ulama Congress agreed to the formation of Persatuan Islam Se-Malaya with Ahmad Fuad as the first president. He was also the head of Umno’s Religious Affairs Bureau.

Tengku Adnan said that it was up to PAS to consider whether the move was for the good of the country, Malays and Muslims.

He also said that he was sure that the Umno supreme council and the party’s disciplinary board would also look into the matter.
