A Goliath grouper washed ashore the Sanibel causeway after dying in a red tide on August 1, 2018.A red tide that rolled in off Florida's Gulf coast last fall is still plaguing the area. Formerly pristine water is a cloudy mud-red, confusing and killing off many kinds of wildlife.The algae blooms are called karenia brevis, or red tide, and thrive in briny seawater.
