Terengganu MB appoints PAS Supporters Wing leader as special officer

A non-Muslim leader from the PAS Supporters Wing (DHPP) has been appointed as a special officer to Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

In a statement released today, the DHPP secretariat's S Barathidasan announced that its central information chief Dr Balachandran Gopal Krishnan was sworn in at Wisma Darul Iman in Kuala Terengganu on Tuesday.

Balachandran has been assigned the designation of special officer in charge of non-Muslim affairs.

"The appointment of Balachandran is very meaningful and we hope to be able to solve issues faced by non-Muslims in Terengganu.

"The negative perception the public has about PAS should be scrapped as PAS is not a racist or extremist party. Although PAS takes Islam as the foundation of its struggle, it rejects racism and is fair to non-Muslims," Barathidasan said.

Citing several instances where PAS had selected DHPP members for various government appointments in the PAS-led Kelantan and Terengganu state governments and also as PAS election candidates, Barathidasan said this was proof of the Islamist party's tagline “PAS for all”. - Mkini
