PKR election officer arrested over alleged Julau 'cyber attack'

PKR POLLS | A PKR election officer has been arrested over the alleged "cyber attack" on the party's e-voting system in Julau yesterday.
Sarawak PKR election director Desmond Kho confirmed with Malaysiakini that the officer was picked up by police in Sarikei.
Malaysiakini is trying to contact Sarikei police for further information.
Yesterday, polling for the Julau division was disrupted after PKR deputy presidential candidate Rafizi Ramli claimed that "malware" had been installed on tablets used for e-voting.
There were claims that a PKR election officer had been seen manipulating the tablets to install an application named Prey.
Subsequently, the party's central election committee suspended the results from the Julau division polls after what it claimed to be a "cyber attack".
Incumbent Julau PKR chief Semana Sawang, however, disputed Rafizi's version of events.
A tech expert later rubbished claims that Prey is malware.
On its website, Prey brands itself as an anti-theft software that enables users to track their devices but also “wipe data and folders remotely on a lost device.”
It further allows users to manage and perform tasks on “thousands of devices” simultaneously.
When contacted, PKR election committee director Rashid Din said the Julau polls were still being investigated. - Mkini
