Malaysian Jerky Stand Explodes in Business After Seller Posts Thirst Pics
Business is booming for a bak kwa, a kind of beek jerky, seller on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
After posting pictures of him at work, Siuhau Neo found himself preparing a lot more of the dried meat delicacy to customers craving the dish — as well as a glimpse of his beautiful physique.
Neo, who hails from Kuantan in the state of Pahang, runs a seafood restaurant with his family.
Aside from crabs, oysters and prawns, they also sell non-seafood products such as chicken and pork floss, preserved sausages, wine and a wide variety of cakes for the Chinese New Year.
Neo detailed all the available products at his stall in a Facebook post on Jan. 14, with bak kwa — and his body — taking the spotlight.
Bak kwa, also known as rougan or roupu, is a preserved, sweet-salty dried meat delicacy originating from China.
However, people seem to be more interested in his muscles, with one middle-aged woman grabbing the chance to get a feel of them.
Needless to say, Neo’s promotion caught the attention it sought. Facebook users commented:
“Winner.”
“This meat is delicious.”
“I can’t buy it without you.”
“Let’s go to Kuantan to buy bak kwa!”
“Seeing you like this, I really can’t help but buy.”
This is not the first time someone in Asia has banked on their looks to win more customers. Some have been selling bean curd, vegetables, durian, buns, fish and hot pot.
