SEREMBAN: The purchase of a new fleet of Honda Accords being used by the current Negri Sembilan state administration was approved by the former state executive council (exco), says Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
“The previous state exco had approved it as the cars were apparently due to be changed.
“If our critics think there are irregularities, they are free to report the matter to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission,” he told reporters at Wisma Negri on Monday (Jan 7).
He said his administration took delivery of the 15 vehicles last September.
Some netizens have criticised the new state administration for buying the cars.
They claimed that the state government had tried to hide this by purchasing the same model and colour as used by the previous administration.
Aminuddin said apart from members of the state exco, the state secretary, financial and legal officers, mufti and himself received a new car.
His administration will, however, acquire a new official car for the state assembly deputy speaker.
There was no such post under the previous government.
Aminuddin said based on the standard procedure, members of the former state exco would be given the option to buy their official cars.- Star
