'Did he go? I don't know', says Dr M when asked about Johor MB's Batam trip

PUTRAJAYA : The Prime Minister says he is unaware that Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian had gone to Batam, Indonesia when the Pasir Gudang chemical dumping incident occurred.
"Did he go? I don't know," said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) when asked on the matter at an event here on Saturday (March 16).
Osman was said to have been in Batam, Indonesia on Friday (March 15) to promote Visit Johor 2020 and was received by the island's mayor Muhammad Rudi.
On criticisms over how the state handled the situation, Dr Mahathir said that Osman had his own views on how the matter should be handled.
"But in the end, we are of the same view that there is no cause for emergency or panic because we know we are doing all the right things and handling the situation well, " he added.
Over 2,500 people were affected by toxic fumes following a chemical dumping incident in Sg Kim Kim in Pasir Gudang.
The Prime Minister also denied claims that he had given his blessing to remove Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
"No such thing, no such thing," he said
There were reports claiming that a Perak executive councillor had received the blessing of Dr Mahathir, who is Pakatan Harapan chairman, to oust Ahmad Faizal.- Star
