DR STRERAM SHOULD WIN AT RANTAU BY-ELECTION

Dr Streram should win the Rantau by-election with a good majority.

The reason being Mohamad Hasan or Mat Hasan as he is called, the BN candidate when he was the assemblyman and Mentri Besar then, did nothing to improve the lives of the Rantau folks.

Rantau had always been a sleepy village, with no prospects for the people there to earn a living. Rantau folks need to travel to Seremban, Port Dickson or even Kuala Lumpur to earn a proper living.

Its a shame for Mat Hasan to claim Rantau as his birthplace. He did nothing when he had all the powers in his hands.

Only Mat Hasan, his brothers and family had benefited during Mat Hasan's MB tenure. Most State contracts were awarded to them, who then sub-contracted the works to others even when they had no expertise to be awarded those contracts in the first place.

It was reported that Mat Hasan had used a Mamak Money Changer to transfer RM10 Million to United Kingdom in 2008 using a currency-exchange company although he knew it was clearly illegal to use them. The said Money-Changer was punished for helping to remit the money to Mat Hasan's London bank account. Mat Hasan was not punished. Where did Mat Hasan get these Millions. Your guess is good as mine.

Mat Hasan is also not a friendly guy to speak of. There were incidents when confronted with Mat Hasan at the ICU Ward at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital and Stadium Paroi and he just walked away without a smile or greeting. Mat Hasan always expect the people to walk up to him to greet him.

Recently Mat Hasan was seen giving a history lesson to the people at a UMNO event at Eco Park at Rantau. Mat Hasan fail to realise that it is now 63 years since Malaya or Malaysia gained Independence and everyones' birth place is Malaysia.

Suddenly, Mat Hasan seem to be getting closer to the non-Malays, hoping to get their undivided support. But most non-Malays are actually fed up with Mat Hasan's frequent undermining of their status, and seem to be calling them like "pendatang".

Mat Hasan while being MB did bring a federal project to build low-cost houses in Rantau but those who qualified for these houses were mostly outsiders, not Rantau folks and those Rantau people who applied to get these homes were rejected.

To most people's surprise there is a big group in UMNO who want Mat Hasan to lose in Rantau. They feel that this is the best way to oust him from the top UMNO leadership. They feel Mat Hasan is unsuitable and is always "begging" third parties for assistance when he should be strengthening UMNO support and position.

Meanwhile, Dr Streram's records speak for itself. He had volunteered to help war-torn Muslim countries like Syria, Afghanistan and Sudan where he gave humanitarian medical assistance to the needy wounded people there.

Surely, Dr Streram will serve the Rantau folks when the need arises if elected.

Being the ruling government's candidate, Dr Streram would be the ideal candidate to bring greater development and progress to Rantau and would be able to resolve employment, housing, revive the abandon fire station and deal with upgrading the health clinic and introducing the badly needed ambulance service in the Rantau area.

The Rantau voters will have to decide for themselves which candidate will well serve them on polling day on 13 April 2019. - Mohd.Kamal Abdullah
